In these days of tension and strife which have already become a terror for many, the cry for peace groans within us. We invite you to pause awhile and to join us as we (re)introduce ourselves to the profound insights of Thomas Merton—a renowned Trappist monk, writer, and advocate for peace—and to allow ourselves to be guided toward deeper, more fruitfully compassionate living.
Thomas Merton’s writings encourage us to recognize that we are not merely bystanders, but invited to be active participants in a living, breathing expression of divine love in the world. Merton is an important and prophetic voice during a period, not unlike our own, marked by social division and injustice, rampant militarization and the devastation of the (Vietnam) War as well as transition in the life of the Church.
This guided retreat will feature guided sessions framed by Merton’s writings and the commentary Bridges to Contemplative Living Volume 7 “Adjusting Your Life’s Vision”, as well as evening film presentations on Merton’s life. The retreat is available both in person and via Zoom.
