The healing of life’s hurts, and the hope of reconciliation in relationships seems to be an elusive dream to so many in today’s world. Yet nothing is more rewarding in life than precisely that. This prayerful and thought-provoking retreat, based on Bishop Lavoie’s book, Walk A New Path, will offer practical suggestions and skills leading to a break-through in both areas of our lives. The role of intimacy, spirituality and honest communication will be explored. What is impossible for us can happen to us!
Addiction takes many forms and affects all of us – our families and society –now reaching crisis proportions. This timely retreat is for anyone interested in learning more about the addictive process, a spirituality of recovery, inner healing and the 12 Step program. It will focus on the importance of fellowship, the power of prayer and the need to befriend our shadow as a way of both preventing and dealing with addiction. Music, art, keynote presentations, witnessing, ritual, laughter and opportunity for sharing will provide an experience that is informative, formative and transformative. Time at the beach and a bonfire sing-song will add a lighter touch.
Archbishop Emeritus Sylvain Lavoie, OMI is a missionary Oblate who has spent over 35 years ministering among the aboriginal peoples of northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Part of a 12 Step support group and published author of three books (one on addictions awareness and the 12 Step program), he now serves as chaplain and spiritual director at Star of the North Retreat Centre in St. Albert, Alberta. Michelle Reis-Amores, MSc ED. has a passion for transformational retreats that offers the space for quiet reflection and silence. Within the space that is created through retreat there occurs an unfolding of the quieter Self. It is here that magic can happen, and a deeper communion with Spirit. The Twelve-Step Tradition is one path that leads to that honesty, regardless of an identification or not with the hurts that have led to Walking on the Path. Stepping away from her role as Director at Galilee, she is looking forward to meeting you on this retreat.
