Sister Water and the Sultan – February 12 – 14, 2021

February 12 – 14, 2021

Spend an amazing two days with St. Francis as a Spiritual companion directing us to a deeper love of the earth and of our enemy — a vital message for our times.

In his most recent encyclical Fratelli tutti, Pope Francis lifts up a prophetic moment in the life of his patron St Francis of Assisi. The saint’s visit to Sultan Malik-el-Kamil, in Egypt, “demonstrated the breadth and grandeur of his love, which sought to embrace everyone”. This encounter and the Spiritual Journey that leads to it is the inspiration of this retreat.

Leonard Desroches is a leading authority on the life and teachings of Francis of Assisi. He has a life-long commitment to peace-making and non-violence. He has worked as a non-violence trainer for Christian Peacemaker Teams and is the author of Allow the Water – The Practice and Spirituality of Nonviolence and Love of Enemy: The Cross and The Sword Trial.  Len continues to teach and lead workshops in the Toronto area.
