Lunch & Learn: Icons: Images of the Divine – Sunday, May 5

Sunday May 5, 2019

Through this presentation, participants will learn about the oldest form of Christian art: iconography. Many images of icons from her travels & research, as well as photos & icons from her own collection, will be used to answer: what an icon is & is not; where icons originated; the use of symbols & colour in icons & why their appearance is so distinctive; how icons are made, & how to pray with paint

Suzanne Massie Manchevsky will be presenting this session. Suzanne Massie is an artist drawn to the contemplative
practice of painting icons. For her, iconography is praying with paint & can lift eyes to heaven. Suzanne has studied & created icons for nearly 20 years & shares her passion through the many workshops she has led to introduce others to this sacred art form.
