Interfaith Christian Women’s Fellowship

Women from the Upper Ottawa Valley began meeting for a period of springtime fellowship more than 30 years ago. The program allows time to relax, share laughter and song, meet new and old friends and to learn more about some aspect of living a Christian life. Women of all ages are welcome, the structure is informal, the meals nourishing and delicious, and the fellowship continuous throughout the weekend.

The Galilee Centre, anchored by its Georgian style house with the addition of modern facilities, is a perfect place for communities large and small to come together.
Just walking among the giant trees in the grounds brings tranquility to your soul. There is a strong spiritual aura there.
M. Barry

I have felt comfortable, welcomed, relaxed and refreshed while at both of the retreats I’ve made with this group, and I look forward to future retreats. Each time gives me renewed fervour and understanding of “Faith” and all its Blessings. It is also a re-affirmation of how well warm and fervent Christians interact with each other, in prayerful reflection, and as a general rule, in Faith and in Fun.
D. McDonald

What I found at the Galilee Centre were women who welcomed me with open arms.
No one was preaching to me, that was what I was afraid of. The accommodations were reminiscent of an old college dorm and food was super delicious. I have gone now for two years and am looking forward to my third year.

True North Insight / Voie boréale

True North Insight (TNI) is a charitable organization offering a full schedule of Buddhist insight (vipassana) meditation retreats and courses in English and French. The vision of True North Insight sees peace, well-being and liberation of heart and mind as innate in all people, no one excluded; our service is to support the inner realization and the outer expression of this reality.

True North Insight loves holding its retreats at Galilee Centre. The grounds are beautiful, the accommodations are clean, and the staff is always welcoming and supportive. The contemplative atmosphere of Galilee is a perfect fit for our meditation retreats, and our participants always say they feel like they are coming home when they arrive at Galilee.

Retreats for healing after abortion for women & men

For the past number of years, Galilee Centre has sensitively hosted weekend retreats twice yearly for healing for women and men touched by abortion.
These confidential retreats are a beautiful opportunity for any person who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion.
The weekend is a chance to get away from daily pressures to focus on the buried emotions of the past in light of present symptoms and to begin healing through a supportive trauma sensitive process, that is designed to help you experience the mercy and compassion of God.

For more information and upcoming retreat dates please see our website at OR contact Terry and Lynda directly by phone at (613) 806-5522 OR by email at

Galilee is an ideal place for this life changing retreat. We were immersed in beauty – the view, the forest, peaceful, private, relaxing. The food was wonderful, the bedroom had everything I needed..

Ottawa Mindfulness Clinic

Since 2003, the OMC has provided Mindfulness-based Symptom Management and Mindful Self-Compassion programs in the Ottawa Region designed to help ease the distress of psychological difficulties.

It’s mission is to make available ways to cultivate and sustain mindfulness skills which are the foundation of compassion for self and others.
It’s vision is that when we develop clarity about our core values, we are better able to meet our needs and, in turn, more available to connect with others with compassion and intimacy.

The OMC has been the beneficiary of the beautiful surroundings and supportive staff of Galilee Centre for our annual silent retreat. Our retreats have been a deeply healing process for retreatants because of the quality of care and attention they receive. Most of our retreatants are new to silent retreats and usually arrive feeling tentative about the weekend. The gentleness of the greeters, kitchen staff, and managers is reassuring to them and so necessary for a newcomer to practice. More seasoned retreatants come to replenish themselves in the beautiful landscape and the steadiness of the staff. Whether it is for the annual weekend retreat or longer 5-day sessions, we at the OMC are deeply committed to keeping Galilee as the place to cultivate our practices of mindfulness and compassion
