The Ten Paramis – the Path to Enlightenment, A Labour Day Weekend Meditation Retreat – September 1 – 4, 2017

The Ten Paramis is a classical Theravada Buddhist teaching.  The Pali word “parami” translates roughly as “perfection”.  Each parami is an aspect of character that can be developed and at the same time is something that supports the growth of deeper practice.  The ten together describe a sequential path ot enlightenment.During the course of this Vipassana Meditation retreat students will learn the Ten Paramis and how they relate to their life and practice.

Facilitator:  Barry Gillespie

Barry lived and taught in Ottawa for 26 years.  He was a co-owner of Santosha Yoga from when it was founded in the 90’s until he moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2004.  He was introduced to formal meditation practice in 1978, through the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram.

In 2003 he began exploring Theravada Buddhist practice, sitting many long retreats at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA and Spirit Rock in Woodacre, CA.  His principal teacher is Guy Armstrong.  He is an affiliated teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Colorado.   www.barryhgillespie.com

Cost:  Teacher Dana + $335 (Single room) or $280 (Double room)
