Our addiction to oil is killing people and the planet… sometimes slowly through the degradation of the air that we breathe and the ecosystems on which we all depend, and sometimes quickly as a result of human rights abuses and conflict over the control and use of fossil fuels. Are there alternatives?

Yes. KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives believes that its time for us -- as individuals and as a society -- to re-examine our dependence on fossil fuels. Join us for our Re-energize: Time for a Carbon Sabbath campaign and discover how you can change yourself, change your community and help to change the world.

Dorothy McDougall is the Ecological Justice Program Coordinator with KAIROS. McDougall was previously the Director for the Doctor of Ministry at the Toronto School of Theology, she has a PhD in Theology and is author of The Cosmos as the Primary Sacrament: The
Horizon for an Ecological Sacramental Theology.
