Spirituality & Social Justice Institute to begin this month at Galilee Centre
New 10 week sabbatical being offered for spiritual growth

Arnprior, ON – September 5, 2007 - Galilee Centre officially announced today, the introduction a commuter rate for area residents who would like to participate in the new Spirituality & Social Justice Institute which begins September 21.

"We’ve had some interest in the program from those who live close by and would like to participate in the program without residing at Galilee," said Darlene O'Leary, Executive Director for Galilee Centre. “The program is also broken into two-week sessions for those who have interest in participating for shorter periods.

The program is focused on exploring, renewing and sustaining spiritual grounding for justice, peace and ecology commitments. It is ecumenical and multi-faith in orientation while rooted in the Christian tradition.

The five sessions are focused on/ titled Building a Spirituality of Social Justice, Building a Spirituality of Ecology, Living as Global Partners, Living in Right Relation and Living in Ways that Matter.

"While the program is probably best suited for those who can stay in residence here at Galilee, the Institute does have much to offer commuters as well,” said O’Leary. “There will be an excellent opportunity for those who have traveled to meet and form relationships with people that have similar commitments.”

Institute participants can also take part in the new Book Club, Movie Nights, Guided Walks/Community Hikes and Taize Prayer sessions, which will be ongoing programs at Galilee Centre and also start in September.

“We have planned to include a balance of Prayer/Meditation, Self Directed and Free Time, Creativity Sessions, Hiking, Yoga, Labyrinth, Workshops and Celebrations,” said David Illman-White, Spiritual Program Coordinator.

The cost for the full 10 weeks is $4900 per Galilee resident and $2100 for commuters (meals included). The Two-week sessions are $1100 per Galilee resident and $540 for commuters (meals included). An information package regarding the Institute is available through Galilee as is any information regarding the new Galilee Centre programs.
