FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Galilee Centre Welcomes New Leadership Team
Arnprior, ON - October 12, 2006 - About 50 people gathered at Galilee Centre Wednesday evening Oct. 11 to welcome the centre's new leadership team and to hear about a new Program Focus at Galilee.
Executive Director Darlene O'Leary outlined Galilee's plans for the coming months in a brief talk: The New Leadership Team at Galilee has been given a mandate to build on the vision of the Board of Directors in developing programs for Galilee. We are very excited to develop programs that reflect the values and concerns that are outlined in the program focus. These values and concerns include a commitment to inclusivity, to social transformation, to spiritual growth, to holistic development, and to the integrity of creation. The way that we plan to implement this vision is through ongoing programs and through theme-based retreats and educational sessions. These programs include: A Care-for-the-Caregiver program that will work to provide tools and support for those who live and work in caregiving situations that are highly demanding; our programs will address holistic health, dealing with compassion fatigue and burn-out, etc.; A series of weekend retreats and events on themes that are consistent with our vision, including native spirituality, peacemaking, ecology, and artistic exploration, etc.; Events related to significant dates such as International Women?¥ús Day and Earth Day; Special guests such as Joyce Rupp, Diarmuid O?¥úMurchu, and James Loney; Community events and programs, including luncheons, coffee houses, and yoga classes; Spiritual retreats, including directed retreats and restful days at Galilee.
